I feel that graphic designers oftentimes go unnoticed in the art world. Milton Glaser created the epitome of graphic design campaigns- the "I ♥ NY" logo. This simple image was commissioned by the New York State Department of Commerce in 1973 to promote tourism in a city downtrodden by the social and economic woes of the 1970s. Glaser's piece has become a symbol of pride for New York City and one of the most imitated graphics of all time.
